Rick Gibbons
My powder coating journey started in 2024 while I was working as a motorcycle mechanic and engine builder. We had some parts powder coated, but the quality wasn’t what we had hoped for. That experience sparked a thought: “Maybe I can do this myself.”

I bought a small sandblast cabinet and a beginner powder coating system, then practiced on every part I could find. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion for turning worn parts into something people could be proud of.
At the beginning of 2026, I left my full-time job and went out on my own. Since then, I’ve grown from curing parts in a household oven to using a custom-built 6′ × 4′ × 4′ oven and a large spray booth. I’m continuing to upgrade the shop and refine my process to deliver better quality and long-lasting finishes.
My background as a mechanic taught me to care about the details, and I bring that same mindset to every coating job. Whether you’re restoring a motorcycle, customizing your wheels, or giving an old part a fresh look, I want you to feel proud of the finished result.
Prince
Prince joined the shop family as a 10-week-old pup, right when we needed some extra joy. As the official Pawsitivity Coordinator, his job is to keep the good vibes flowing at The Powder Guy.

When he’s not coordinating morale, he’s running his own business, Prince’s Laser Works.
His favorite things are treats, belly rubs, and the occasional short walk. He likes to sleep through the day, then be wide awake and ready to play right when the rest of us are ready for bed.
